Printing a white ink onto a one sided brown kraft 360gsm board (Robert Horne’s ‘Custom Kote’ in fact).

Merry Christmas everyone – thanks for buying my prints, commissioning work and stopping by the web site. Here’s to 2012.

Printed on a selection of papers, approximately 50 different sheets from grey board to smooth coloured sheets, metallics to uncoated papers, in lots of different shades and textures. 4 different inks were used – silver, black, red and blue. It is a limited edition run of 50 packs of 6 cards, whereby every set is completely unique, arriving in a hand stamped kraft envelope – no two packs are the same.

A new print for a talk at Brandhouse, this time Aled Lewis is the speaker.

Original artwork by Aled, an A3 poster, printing onto a 175gsm GF Smith Colplan Mist, using black, water-based acrylic ink.

A 1977 press ad for David Bowie’s wonderful album, scanned and tweaked for screen printing. Experimenting with black ink and printed roughly onto thick kraft board, trying out different inks and ink viscosity.

They also asked me to print a limited run of 30 of their own posters, a lovely thick black ink on an uncoated white 225gsm board.

The image came from one of Paul’s lino cut prints, which was imported into Photoshp and layers were then created for me to use in Illustrator and output. The grey ink went onto the paper first, and then the yellow went on top – creating a lovely olive-green colour.

This is the end result – green ink onto purple, really pleased with this one:

So the first colour to go down was this lovely rich purple:

Then a really vivid, almost fluoro green:

The silver ink goes onto the paper beautifully, there is something about this ink that is just so smooth, it’s great to work with, it kind of glides over the screen in a way no other ink does.

4 cards, with a simple, typographic design, featuring one of four fonts (Decorated, Frankfurter, Princeton and Buxom). Although initially designed as birthday cards, they look good as stand-alone postcards.

Printing 1 colour onto a Robert Horne double sided kraft board –  a beautiful uncoated surface on one side, really textured (click the photo for a close up), while the reverse is white and smooth.

A rubber stamp which you’ll see on the back of every print I make.

The silver onto yellow looks amazing, the silver ink is looking almost pearlescent, and just so shiny it’s almost reflective:

So the first of my new new postcards – one every day this week, the first one features Eric B and Rakim, hip hop legends. Here I’m printing black ink onto an unlined 1250 micron greyboard, I really like this combination, the greyboard is brilliant to print onto.

Tried lots of different colour combinations, including black onto red and black onto blue, but here is a silver ink onto a pink uncoated board:

A first attempt at a tshirt for children. I’ve found most kids clothes to be either so expensive, or just not very interesting. So I thought I’d have a go at making some. Printing 2 colours onto a white tshirt.

An A4 poster, printing 2 colours onto a 350gsm uncoated, unbleached board.
